Epic International Staffing is pleased to announce the hire of Carla Beckham, MSN, RN, to the role of Director of Education, Clinical Liaison. Having had the privilege of both bedside nursing and teaching nurses in a university setting, Carla brings the best of both worlds to her work at Epic.
In her role as Director of Education, Carla is responsible for assessing the experience, clinical competencies, and skills of internationally educated nurses in order to make recommendations about the most appropriate assignment for each nurse. She is responsible for the development and administration of Epic’s clinical education program to prepare the nurses to integrate into their assigned specialty areas at client facilities.
Additionally, Carla acts as the clinical point of contact to liaise between Epic’s client facilities and clinicians. She works with healthcare facilities to evaluate the performance of the Epic clinicians assigned to their facilities and addresses areas in need of improvement where necessary.
Carla began her nursing career at Vanderbilt University Children’s Hospital, working in a busy and complex surgical unit. During her time there, when the number of orientees exceeded the number of available preceptors, she was tapped to develop and direct a group orientation that became a forerunner to the nurse residency programs found at many hospitals today.
Her teaching career began at the Jeanette Cantrell Rudy School of Nursing at Cumberland University where she taught a variety of courses and clinical experiences. She developed the nursing informatics course and was instrumental in founding the school of nursing’s honor society, serving as its faculty sponsor.

Most recently, Carla worked in a large hospital located within her own community, caring for patients in a perioperative setting throughout the coronavirus pandemic. Working alongside, and for, former nursing students in such a challenging time was an invaluable experience, and deepened her appreciation for the importance of teamwork and collaboration in facing the complexities of healthcare.
