During her tenure at the United Nations, she was awarded a UN Medal for her contributions to Peacekeeping Operations and was recognized by UN dignitaries with a certificate of appreciation for her outstanding contribution to the humanitarian and social activities of the UN Mission for Justice Support in Haiti (MINUJUSTH) UN police (UNPOL) Women’s Network. Moreover, she has also been honored with the esteemed DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses in 2023 and was recognized by her facility’s Patient Experience department for her unwavering commitment to delivering Exceptional Care to patients and their families.
Beyond her Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing, Bijaya pursued dual Master’s degrees in Sociology and Political Science, reflecting her dedication to continuous learning. Her induction into the esteemed International Honor Society of Nursing further attests to her exceptional achievements.
Further adding to her laurels, Bijaya was commended by the Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Nepal School of Social Work for her outstanding role as a Presenter at an International Conference. This recognition followed the successful implementation of a project focused on humanity, health awareness, stress management, and psychosocial counseling for police personnel deployed in earthquake-hit zones as earthquake survivors in the aftermath of the catastrophic disaster of the 2015 earthquake in Nepal.
How Would You Describe Your Experience with Epic International Staffing?
Bijaya’s history with Epic International Staffing began during her NCLEX journey when she sought opportunities to work in the U.S. Coincidentally, Epic was hosting an NCLEX seminar in Kathmandu, Nepal, providing her with valuable networking opportunities.

“My advice to the aspiring nurses with a dream to come live and work in the U.S. would be to dream big, stay optimistic, persistent, and dedicated to your goals. Perform thorough research on the licensing requirements and immigration processes, seek out reputable recruiter agencies like Epic International Staffing, and be prepared for a challenging but rewarding journey ahead.”
What Are You Enjoying Most About the U.S.?

“What I am enjoying most as an RN in the U.S. are the opportunities for professional growth, very nice people, the healthy working environment, and career advancement opportunities. I am grateful for the motivating environment at my workplace, where I enjoy the consistent motivation as well as the support of my team members, the charge nurses, and the unit directors, including leadership. I appreciate and enjoy the ample opportunities for continuous growth and advancement that are available to me. Moreover, the advanced medical technology and resources available, and the chance to work in a diverse and dynamic healthcare environment are phenomenal and uplifting.”
What Have Been Some Challenges You’ve Experienced Since Living in the US?
While Bijaya’s experience as an RN in the U.S. has been largely positive, it comes with its own set of challenges. Nonetheless, Bijaya’s optimistic outlook shines through.
“Some challenges I have experienced in my initial journey as an international nurse living in the U.S. include adapting to a new healthcare system, communication barriers, and cultural differences in patient care. However, I feel so blessed to have such supportive and experienced team members of my facility, as well as the experienced team members of Epic International Staffing to help overcome these challenges. I am so glad that I have gained valuable lessons from the challenges I have faced that no books could teach me.”
What Do You Hope for in the Future?
